Mr. Christoph Brunner, one of the two presidents of UTInnovation and Chief Technical Officer has more than 20 years of experience within the utility industry. His technical skills are based on his involvement in product development for utility automation. For more than 15 years he has been working as design engineer, project manager and development manager in the Research and Development departments of two major suppliers for the utility industry.

He has experience in both hardware and software development. As a project manager, he also gained experience in working with external subcontractors. From the time as a development manager, he has experience in budgeting / controlling, quality assurance and managing of several project teams. As a project leader for global research projects he gained the experience to manage international project teams. Based on his leadership in international organizations he has an experience to manage project teams from different companies.

With his five years of experience as a system architect for substation automation focused on the process close area, he gained a deep knowledge in the control and monitoring of the switchgear including the acquisition of the measured information. His core competence is in the area of data communication for the utility automation.

He is an active member of several professional societies and standardization bodies. He is convenor of IEC TC57, WG10; member of IEC TC57 WG17, 18 and 19 and of IEC SC17C, WG11. He is international advisor to the board of the UCA International Users group. And he is member of IEEE-PES and IEEE-SA and participates in several working groups of the IEEE-PSRC. He has written and published several papers and he has been an instructor in several seminars, workshops and tutorials all over the world.

He holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich / Switzerland and has followed many additional educational programs and training courses to develop further skills to support his professional activities.
